Good pointes:

Make a public transportation between the cool city and the residential area. Pollution would be less than when every individual use his car. Imagine how the reduction of the oil consumptions and other gases which comes from transportation will be!

Changing the lighting used in malls to fluorescent bulbs. This will help reduce the bill and it is believed that is more efficient incandescent bulbs.

Using operable roof which is supposed to work depending on the weather. When the weather is hot like in the summer it will close up and reduce the sunlight that streams in. While in the winter it will use the natural air from the cool weather

"My Carbon footprint"

The Carbon footprint is the sum of all emissions of CO2 (carbon dioxide), which was induced by human activities in a given time frame. My results in the quiz were 3.08 planets so that is meaning I am the same as the UK average. Now I am going to highlight three of my carbon footprint problem and offer some solutions.

The first problem for me is that I am using transportation too much, to be specific; I am using my car more than 7 hours per day. This high rate of usage cause air population and effects our environment. Burned gases & carbon which generated from the car pollute the air and increase the hole in the ozone layer. In addition, during rush hours people get nervous and stressed and this is also considered as pollution. The second problem is technology. As technology is improving, I use these technologies and I depend on them. I am also fascinated by technologies and the features which they have. For example, I change my cellular every time because of the camera resolution and other features. In each room in my house, I have a television, receiver and DVD player. I can't live without technologies because they make my life easier. A final problem is electricity. I am using a lot of electricity. Abu Dhabi has hot weather and we can't live without using air condition. Lights, T.V and computers are consuming electricity and these things are necessary in our life but it seems we use them more than we need to.


Now let us turn to the solutions. First, the only way to solve this problem is to walk or using bicycle and we don't use the car unless in important cases. Second, to reduce the advantages of technology or the pollution by the technology is to use them just to fit and satisfy our needs only. Finally, we have to shit down the electricity whenever we don't use it and reduce the number of items which don't add any valuable to our life.



As you can see from what I have written above for each problems there are many solutions. My point is that global warming is the biggest threat to the planet today so we have to cooperate with each other to protect the blue ball which is our planet.

An Inconvenient Truth (evaluation)

This movie is a very interesting and useful, before I had brief information on Global Warming but now I gained more information and I am afraid to what will happen to use after 5 years.
I agree with him on the idea that we are the reason of what is happening to the earth and we all know that we are the reason and we can reduce and change this problem but who cares and this is our habit we only think of today and we don’t think what will happened to us tomorrow. Its true that in the past or before 10 years the weather was cooler than now and I notice that the more develop we are the more problem we face. I think Al Gore has to get 9 of 10 because he has exciting personality and he made the presentation interesting.

An Inconvenient Truth (summary)

Apolitical man went to say a message to the people. In the first he showed as 3 pictures of the earth were taken from the space from 3 different men.
Then he talked about one of the most dangerous disaster; Global Warming. This happened when the sun radiation came to the earth in form of waves and that’s heats up the earth, most of the waves absorbed by the earth and then reradiated to the space in form of infrared waves and some of this waves trapped by the earth atmosphere and held inside it. So the atmosphere will become thicker because of the green house gases and our pollutions. As the scientists said the Global Warming is increasing and as it shown in some countries and areas that the ice is melting and collapsing and they predict that it will continue increasing. They knew that by measuring the ice. He also said that more carbon dioxide (CO2) will lead to warm temperature.
He added that the ten hottest years have occurred in the last 14 years and especially in 2005 and it killed a lot of people in US. Also this case cased a lot of disaster such as tornado, typhoons and hurricane. These happened when the water temperature increase, the wind will increase so then the moister content will increase and that will cause flooding to the country. Global Warming not only cause flooding but it also cause drying to some countries.
Also this issue will effect the 4 seasons and will raise the number of diseases.
These problems come from us and we are the only who can stop it. That’s by reducing the use of electricity, vehicles and technology.

Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is defined as “higher level” thinking and thinking “outside” the box. In addition the critical thinkers have some skills that they can from us.There are significant things you should do it to be Critical thinker such as asking pertinent questions (of self as well as others), assessing statements and arguments, becoming an open-minded listener and reader; developing a “thinker’s vocabulary”.

If you are critical thinker you have to do three important things. First, you have to think. Think about examine your beliefs, assumptions, and opinions and weigh them against facts. Second, listen carefully to what others are saying and don't ignore feedbacks.Theerd, look for evidence to support your assumptions and beliefs.

There are six levels of thinking which are evaluation, synthesis, analysis, application, comprehension, knowledge and they called "Bloom's Taxonomy ".
Everyone thinks should think like Critical Thinker, because the quality of our life and that of what we produce depends on the quality of our thought.

Critical thinkers are important because, they plays an important part in social change. For example, institutions in any society courts, governments, schools, businesses are depends on critical thinking.

"The Way I Am"


My name is Sultan Al Humairi and I was born on September, 6th 1988 in Abu Dhabi city. I am UAE nationality & I raised in a middle class family. I have 2 sisters and 1 brother & am the youngest We were living in Al-Shahama with my grandfather for 9 years, after that we moved to Abu Dhabi. In fact, I like the environment of my family because each one knows his/her responsibilities and we respect each others.




I consider my childhood is the best period in my life because in that time I used to learn & discover the world around me. I traveled to many places such as KSA, Oman, Qatar, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen & UK. However this summer I will travel to KSA for Umra. Also I have a plan to travel to Australia to visit one of my best friends.


I studied in government schools till I graduated from high school. Then I joined Higher College of technology and I am looking to gain more education because I believe that education is the key of success.

I have many hobbies and I try to find a free time to enjoy them. Riding horses is the best thing that I do. This sport let me discover myself and my skills. Beside that, it teaches me how to be patient. I participated in 6 horses' races and scored a wonderful place which was the second. The following pictures have been taken in 2006 horses race which was sponsored by H. H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed "Bu Theeb Club".

In general, life is simple but somehow it is complicated and I always see the positive side of this life. I feel that I am lucky because I joined Higher College of Technology. I chose civil engineering and I would like to graduate with a high score to build my country & I can add special things to my society. I get the encouragement from my parents, teachers & each person live around me. I totally believe that each success in my life because of the hard work and people who play major role behind the scene to make my life successful.

I can say that I have a wonderful life and I always appreciate the moment which I live. There's no one perfect but I make efforts to touch the perfect life.
